Ki
The meaning of ki is energy. Power levels that are given are in terms of Ki. Scouters are used to detect a fighters ki or can be used to locate dragonballs. The scouters are mostly used in the Saiyan and Frieza Saga. They come in all different colors and they go around the eye. Scouters can also be used as phones.Raditz uses his scouter, right before he dies, to call vegeta and nappa and inform them on the dragon balls. The scouters are only used by beings that cannot detect ki. All of the Z fighters can dectect ki, because they live on earth. Cetain planets give its inhabitants the ability to detect Ki. Vegeta used to use a Scouter, until he arrived on earth, and then after that, he learned how to detect ki. I believe that Namek may also have the effect on it's inhabitants. Senzu beans are used to recover lost ki. They are grown by Karin in the Karin Tower, which has enough nutrients in it to revitalize the body of all of its injuries and give the body the power it had before the fight had started. This is kind of a mircle fix, if you are almost dying, you eat one of these and then you are instantly back to full strength.

HOW TO USE KI:
Ki is life energy. Ki is in every living thing even if they don't know it is. Without ki you wouldn't be able to move. Ki is also known as Chi, qi. But I will refer to life energy as ki. If the body has shortages or blockages in any part of the body problems with the body will occur until the normal flow of ki is restored.
It is mentioned in many ancient texts. In Greek, it is called Pneuma. In the Hebrew scriptures it is "the breath of life." The orient were beleived to be the first to actually learn to manipulate and control it.
Basically ki is the power of the human body realized, or the "power of the whole." It is a spiritual thing, but with concentration and training it can be physical as well. People who do not beleive in it will never be able to experience this awesome energy that we are born with.
This is for everyone. Nothing age specific, or religion specific. All that it requires is that you believe it exists and that you can use it at will. It does require patience and a stable mind, and should not be done after eating a full meal.
Many think that it is against their religion, because they say it is similar to "magick" or "spell casting." This is not true. Spell Casting does use energy, but it uses different symbols and chants to activate it.
Magic is a religious thing that people do, But in order to do that type of magic, they must take on the religion. In ki, you could be any kind of religion and still use it, that is one other thing that seperates ki from magick. Also magic has tons and tons of endless uses, were ki is limited, atleast from certain peoples point of view.
